to falter in the fall and roll like a ball.

“I shall not collapse,” Elena steadfastly reminded herself. She had already accepted the fact that she was a lonely, penniless single mom. She did not have a permanent job. What she did for living was walking the city streets and begging pedestrians for food. She sometimes took some ‘leaves‘, as she needed to go to the community center nearby to collect some donated clothes and claim for her monthly charity allowance. She had no idea how to keep up with her already-humble-beyond-description lifestyle. The winter had been so cold to her. She did not wear any sweaters as she could not afford one. She switched off the heater as she tried to be frugal. She even stayed in a wooden, frail shelter to save some cash for food. She had her son, Adam, religiously being her loyal, obedient companion all the time. Adam was not a strong companion though. He had always been bullied at school; typical public school, a place for manic, half-baked kids to rule . Elena did not want to be a jezebel by asking her son to work, or in an extreme way, taking over her responsibilities. She knew her autistic son, Adam would never be able to work. Yet, she still remained optimistic. She still believed that Adam would have a great future ahead. She also knew that she would not be able to work for long. She had cancer. Yeah, she had cancer and died after two months.

Shall he wait for the moment he would be blessed with some talismanic power?

Or shall he die out of poverty?

Most importantly, what would you do if you were Adam?
